Camp Emotions

Mt Ruapehu Emotions

Hi bloggers! Today my blog post is gonna be all about my camp feelings. So, on Tuesday the 20th of August is the day we are going to camp! We come back on Friday the 24th of August.

Right now I feel so excited because I'm going to be skiing at Mt Ruapehu. I've never skied before but I've touched snow. I also feel really nervous. It's because I'm gonna be away from my family for 3 nights and 4 days. That would be the longest time I've been away. Worries are also added to that list. I'm worried that I will keep slipping on the mountain or get hurt. We are going to many places too. One place that would really push me to my limits are the mountains. I've always wanted to ski before. My brother has. But I'm too scared to ski because I always think I'd let go of the pole or I don't have enough layers on so I would get really cold. I have a few things that I would gain from going on camp. I might gain confidence in going places without people from my family. I usually go with at least 1 or 2 family members. I'm pretty sure I'd gain trust. I'd trust my friends to keep up with me or my leaders to help me understand what we have to do. I'd also trust the teachers or members from the Crossing Backpackers.  I really think I'd feel exhausted after camp. I'd feel relieved too and happy. Happy to see my family. And that's all my feelings gone, into this blog post.

I hope you enjoyed reading. Bye

Student Led Tool kits

Talofa lava bloggers! Today, I'm going to talk about something I did on Tuesday, the 28th of May. I got chosen to go with a bunch of other students to the Student Led Tool kits. Well, if you're wanting to know what Student Led Tool kits is, I'll tell you. First of all, the Student Led Tool Kits I went to was only for students from an Ako Hiko School (but not the whole entire school went). Student Led Tool kits is a lot of fun! The activities they prepared for us were amazing. There were heaps of activities such as: how to make your own Kahoot's, droning, making movies and animations, doing art on Google drawings and some more.

There were 3 sessions. Each session had 4-6 activities. In the first session, I finally got to know how to make my own Kahoot. My Kahoot was about animals because I know a few facts about animals. For my second session, I did the same activity! But I really liked it because I got to do another one. For my last activity in session 3, I got to make an animation or movie. We had to make a video and a slide show. We had to link the video onto the slideshow. I had an awesome day. Take a look at the photos down at the bottom.

Narrative Term 1-2

Talofa people, I am going to present my narrative that I wrote. It isn't completed but I will add the end of the story another day. If you don't know what a narrative is, I can tell you. A narrative is like a fairy tale or a story you would write. I think my narrative has a lot of describing words and a lot of verbs in it. I hope you enjoy reading my narrative.

Gumboot Friday

Gumboot Friday

Malo ele lei bloggers. On Friday we had Gumboot Friday. Teachers wore gumboots and students too wore gumboots to school. On that day we made some cards with little quotes about Mental health. Mental health is like brain stuff. It is mostly about your brain thinking. Mental health might also mean what they think about themselves. Little quotes were written on the cards. We were hoping it will brighten up their day. The quotes were about them being happy or them being who they are. There were some quotes that said Be happy, be positive, be you and some quotes that said Do what makes you feel happy. The quotes were written by the Senior Block. On Tuesday we started to walk across the streets and just post them into random mail boxes.

Before we did all of this, 30 students got to write down what their opinion was for New Zealand. There were about 12 options to choose from. The 12 options were about what they think New Zealand should work on. One option was about Mental health. A couple of students circled Mental health. They had to write down why they chose it and what they might do to help the option they chose to improve. One of the students wrote We could write some cards and put them in random mailboxes down the street. The teachers read it and thought it might be a fantastic idea to do. So that is how this all happened.

This relates to our inquiry topic. The topic is “HAURO” which means WELL BEING in English. I felt really good and kind when I started to put them in the mail boxes. Over 1 million dollars was raised in New Zealand. One day we got an email from a lady with a son. She said a big thank you for the card. She also said that her son read it, it had completely changed him. Just to let you know, little things can be huge.
Blog you guys later!!!

The Special Assembly

Hello bloggers. Today I am going to talk about a special assembly that was held at our school. We did this because we wanted to show how sorry we were because there was an incident at Christchurch. Each class needed to make a card to school's and communities to show that we are sorry. We planted a kowhai tree near the shade house to remember what happened. The Principle chose some kids from different country's and different cultures to fill up the hole that was dug for the Kowhai tree. In the hall we had a
moment of silence and every teacher looked own at the floor while closing there eyes. I felt sorry for the schools and the police having to risk not getting shot. We are posting the cards to Christchurch with little messages in them. Here are some photo's of The Special Assembly.

My Getting to know you form

Talofa lava everyone! The Middle School and Senior School have had a fabulous
start to the year because we have been going to Cameron Pools to learn how to swim when
you are at the beach or in the pool and it is deep. I am going to show you my Getting to know you form.
You would be reading the things I like, dislike,my family background and some more other things
I would like to share with you. If you see the word : Getting to know you form underneath this
paragraph there would be lots of information about me and my family. You could make a Getting to know you
form whenever you like because it is very easy.
I really liked writing about the things I liked and disliked because I have a lot of things to say about those.
I enjoyed writing the paragraph about what I want people to know about me because not many people know these things
about me.
