Chrismas Decorations

 Malo e lelei bloggers!

Today, Te Waka Ako made some heart baskets using the skill of weaving. It was quite difficult but eventually, we made it. Would you like to try make them? Read the instructions below:

First, cut out 2 different coloured rectangles with curved ends and corners. Then, you cut 3 lines in the middle of the paper, making 2 strips. After doing this with both rectangles, start weaving the ends of the rectangle, with the paper folded in half. Once you're done, hole-punch each corner and tie a string through the holes, if you want. Then you can put some candy in it and hang it on your christmas tree. Take a look at them:

What it looks like on the inside
The look on the outside

We also made some christmas trees by making holes with a pin. Try making this, it's very easy:

So first, you get a christmas tree printed out. Then you get a coloured paper. You place the printed christmas tree on top of the coloured paper and then you start poking holes on the outline of the tree. When your done, it would look similar to this:

It looks better up against the window
where there is light.

Waikowhai Int Visit!

Malo e lelei bloggers!

Today, the Yr 6's went down to Waikowhai Int to meet our teachers for next year! My teacher for 2021 is Ms Rodan, in Rm 14. The other students from my school in my class was Peitynn and Maddison.

This is how it worked: Different schools sat in the rows of seats in the hall. Parents came along too. Mr King, the principal, spoke to us and then the teachers came in. Each teacher said a list of names, the students they would have. The people called out stood up and then went to line up outside. Once we were in our class, we learnt about the different clubs and sports there were in the school. There were LOADS of sports. We also learnt about the Yr 7 Camp and the classes we take in each block. It was so fun at Waikowhai Int.

I am looking forward to 2021 and I'm excited for all the activities we'll be doing.

Thanks for reading my blog post, have a lovely weekend and don't forget to smile!                Blog ya laterπŸ˜‰πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜

T4 Skateboarding 2020

 Morena bloggers!

This morning, Hauraki had their first skateboarding lesson. We had 2 coaches: Ben and Lawrence. It was super fun.

First, we did some learning about how to position yourself when on the skateboard. After that, we had to ride from one end of the court to the other. That was enjoyable. Then, we finally started learning some skateboard tricks...

We had to split up into 2 groups. I was put in Lawrence's group. We did some basic tricks such as: Tic Tacs, Crab walk, jumping onto the skateboard, there were so many tricks we learnt! One of my favourites was the tricks on the grass. You put the skateboard upside down then put both of your feet under it. Then you jump, flipping the skateboard and landing on it. It was very cool. I also liked the other one where you put the skateboard on its side. You stand infront of the skateboard facing backwards, then you jump, again, flipping the skateboard and you land on it. This is called the Back Willy flip. Its quite easy when you practice often. During the lesson, we also did a game called Whats up wolf pack? Its basically the same as Green light, Red light but with skateboards. I really enjoyed playing that game.

Today was fun and I can't wait for the next lesson. Thank you for reading me blogpost, i hope you enjoyed and learned a few tricks too. Have a lovely weekend, blog ya later!

Maori Language Week

Kia Ora everyone! Kei te pΔ“hea koe?

As you know, it is Maori Language Week. The senior syndicate celebrated by learning some Te Reo Maori. Everyday of the week, we watched a video. We learnt how to properly pronounce the vowels and we learnt many new words in Te Reo. We also listened to different Maori songs in the mornings.  Most of the songs were from the Waiata Anthem album. One of the activities we did was the Maori Comic strip. The whole syndicate made one on a google drawing. We had to have 9 scenes/boxes. There had to be 2 characters and they needed to have a conversation...in Maori!!! If you want to check my comic strip out, click here

I really enjoyed this week and all the fun learning we did. It was very fun.

BasketballπŸ€πŸ€πŸ€

Malo e lelei bloggers!

I hope you guys have had a fabulous week. 2 days ago on Wednesday, the 9th, my class had a basketball session with these 2 men named Mikey and Ronan. The session lasted for 40-50 mins. In the middle block, they did some fun activities with us.

First, we did a game called Turtle Tag. The taggers would have to tag others. When you get tagged you have to lye on your back with your arms and legs in the air. The only way too get out of that position is if 1 person holds your arms and another person holds your feet. They then gently roll the person over. Next, we did some dribbling. We learnt how to bounce the ball through our legs, bounce it behind ourselves and bounce it side to side with one hand. We also did some practice on other dribbling skills. At the end, we played another game. We stood in a circle and 2 people stood in the middle. 1 person tried getting the ball while the other tried to keep it. Whoever won would stay in the middle and the next person would battle him/her. I really enjoyed doing the basketball session, it was really fun.

Thank you for reading my blog post. Have a lovely weekend, blog you later!
